Steven Tyler National Anthem Before Ravens-Patriots Game Causes Stir (VIDEO)
Steven Tyler messed up the national anthem before the Ravens-Patroits game in the NFL AFC Championship on Sunday.
Tyler, lead singer of the Hall of Fame rock band Aerosmith and an American Idol judge, appeared before the game in New England in a scarf colored by the Patriots red, white and blue colors. He got some home-crowd applause, but he apparently isn't receiving rave reviews for his performance in which he screamed lyrics and messed up some words.
Reads a headline from Deadspin: Steven Tyler's Star-Spangled Banner Was Terrible. But Was It The Worst Ever? Deadspin said Tyler's juxtaposition of screaming and a languid pace made his rendition of the National Anthem before the AFC Championship in New England especially difficult to listen to. (His liberal lack of adherence to the actual lyrics didn't help.)
Said one user on YouTube: I watched a few other videos of Steven Tyler singing the National Anthem before, and he has changed the lyrics in THE SAME PLACE he changed it today! ? I'm not sure if this is intentional or just an area of the song he has trouble remembering, but it has happened before.
