Many people experience stomach bloating in their lifetime. In some instances, the condition will just go away on its own, especially if the cause is simply eating too many gassy foods. There are cases, however, when bloating is a result of a more serious condition.
The moment that you stop eating those gassy foods or any other foods that are known to lead to bloating, and yet you continue to experience it; then it may be the right time to see a general practitioner. Continuous stomach bloating can be a sign of something more serious, which would require medical attention.

As per Express, Dr. Oz, a famous doctor on TV, said that if you start feeling stomach bloating, and it has been going on for more than a week, then be wary of other accompanying symptoms. This would include blood in the stool, weight loss, and also a change in bowel habits.
There are instances also when bloating is accompanies by intense pain. This is also one warning signal that you must not neglect. One red flag noted by Dr. Kyle Staller, a gastroenterologist at a Harvard affiliated hospital, said that when you’re older, and you start to experience stomach bloating out of nowhere, then that is a warning sign that you must not ignore.
Ovarian Cancer
One of the illnesses that are bloating is a known symptom of women is ovarian cancer. Although this is a common ailment in women aged 50 and above, there are cases when younger women also suffer from it.
Be wary of feelings of bloating that lasts for more than 12 times in a single month. When such is accompanied by other symptoms of ovarian cancer such as feeling full quickly when you’re eating, or that you need to urinate more than usual, or you feel that discomfort either in the pelvic area or the tummy area, then better see a doctor.
Other Illnesses
Aside from ovarian cancer, stomach bloating can also be a symptom of other illnesses. This would include irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), celiac disease, gastroparesis, and constipation.
Although simple dietary changes can reduce or eliminate stomach bloating, understanding the possible underlying illnesses will be to your benefit. Doing so will help you seek medical intervention at the earliest and avail of treatment the soonest.
