Stores Open On New Year’s Day 2015: Holiday Hours For Best Buy, Target, Walgreens And More [LIST]

New Year’s Day is a federal holiday in the U.S., which means most government functions, schools and businesses will be closed Thursday. For many Americans, having a day off is a break from the daily grind and a chance to unwind. For others, it’s an opportunity to shop or run errands before the new year gets underway.

Most malls, restaurants and commercial and retail stores will remain open New Year’s Day. However, many may close early Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Banks, post offices and financial markets will be closed Thursday. Many public transit systems will operate on holiday schedules.
