'The Strain' Renewed For Season 3; Will Continue To Follow Books To End
Gather up your silver and only go out in the daylight because FX’s “The Strain” has been renewed for a third season. Eph (Corey Stoll) will continue to fight the war against the Master for at least another season.
Four episodes into Season 2, FX announced the renewal at the Television Critics Assocation fall previews on Friday, TV Guide reports. Eric Schrier, president of original programming, FX Networks and FX Productions said he’s excited to see Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse continue to adapt the trilogy of the original “The Strain” novels to the small screen.
“Guillermo [del Toro] and Carlton [Cuse] have delivered two thrilling seasons of The Strain that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fans' high expectations in the process," Schrier said in a statement.
“The plan is that the show will run somewhere between three and five seasons,” Cuse dished (via TV Line). “We’re writing to an endpoint, following the path as established in the novel.”
In addition to del Toro, Chuck Hogan was also responsible for writing the original three novels. The trilogy is made of 2009’s “The Strain,” 2010’s “The Fall” and 2011’s “The Night Eternal.”
"The Strain" Season 2, episode 5 will air on FX on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 10 p.m. EDT.
