‘Suits’ Season 7 Spoilers: Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman Tease What’s Next For Donna And Louis

“Suits” stars Sarah Rafferty and Rick Hoffman teased what fans can expect from their characters, Donna and Louis, in the upcoming Season 7 of the USA Network series.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph on the Toronto set of the legal drama last week, Sarah Rafferty revealed that Donna’s storyline in the new season will remain an inspiration for women to stand tall in their power. “[It] is pretty gratifying right now, especially in the current political environment, and we’re going to continue on that journey with her this season,” said the actress.

As for what’s in store for Louis in Season 7, Hoffman said: “We find him getting over a breakup and it’s Louis, so let’s just say the breakup does not make him easy at work.”

In Season 6, episode 15, Louis finally came clean with his fiancée Tara (Carly Pope) about how he became a name partner at Pearson Specter Litt. Unfortunately, Tara reacted the way Louis feared, and the architect started questioning whether or not she actually knows what kind of man he is.

Still reeling from his fight with Tara, Louis needed a distraction. So when Donna asked him to help her patent her and Benjamin’s (David Reale) Siri-like device called The Donna in Season 6 finale, Louis readily offered his expertise. Donna and Benjamin were having trouble patenting The Donna because it’s very similar to a preexisting patent, so Louis met with the patent owners expecting them to reach some kind of deal, but that didn’t happen because the patent owners threatened Donna and Benjamin with a $90 million lawsuit if they try to go forward with the patent.

Although Louis failed to find a way to help Donna patent The Donna, the lawyer did get her a major buyout and a deal that allows the firm to use the device. But that’s not enough for her. “I don’t want the money. I want something more, and I’ve never said that out loud, but I can’t pretend that I don’t anymore,” Donna said before tearfully leaving Harvey’s (Gabriel Macht) office.

Unfortunately, Season 6 didn’t also end well for Louis. At the end of the episode, Tara decided to break up with Louis via voicemail, leaving him heartbroken once again.
