Summer TV Shows 2017: All The Series And Season Premiere Dates You Can’t Miss
You don’t have to wait until the fall to enjoy new TV shows. Summer 2017 is going to be filled with series and season premieres both on cable networks and streaming platforms. Before Memorial Day weekend kicks off, check out these nine can’t miss TV shows coming this summer.
“House of Cards” - May 30
Let the binge-watching begin! “The American people don’t know what’s best for them. I’m needed. I know exactly what they need,” star Kevin Spacey says in the Season 5 Netflix trailer. The Frank Underwood actor also calls Americans “little children” with “sticky fingers” and “filthy mouths” before going on to hint he wants to be POTUS for more than two terms. It looks like it will be a controversial season ahead.
“Big Star Little Star” - May 31
Cat Deeley hosts this USA Network game show which pairs up stars with their children and tests their knowledge of each other in an effort to win money for charity. You can catch the series premiere on May 31.
“Claws” - June 11
A crew of nail salon workers decide to end their money laundering days only to learn it won’t be as easy as they hoped. Niece Nash stars in the TNT crime dramedy.
“Counting On” - June 12
The Duggars are back on TLC with new episodes of their family docuseries. Fresh off Jinger’s wedding to Jeremy Vuolo, another Duggar daughter is getting ready to walk down the aisle in Season 3. Viewers will get to watch as Joy-Anna Duggar, 19, finishes her courtship and prepares for her wedding to longtime friend Austin Forsyth. Elsewhere in the episodes, Jill Dillard will continue her mission trip in Central America as Jessa Seewald celebrates her son Spurgeon’s first birthday.
“The Mist” - June 22
Stephen King’s “The Mist” has had its fare share of adaptations, and Spike is taking its crack at the horror tale this summer. When an unexplainable mist comes over a town, an unknown creature follows, killing those who come across its path.
“Big Brother”- June 28
Your favorite summer TV obsession is back next month with its Season 19 premiere. CBS will introduce its viewers to a new batch of strangers as they battle it out in series of summer-long competition and house politics before one is awarded the first-place prize of $500,000. Last year saw a mix of “Big Brother” fan favorites and newbies with Season 16 vet Nicole Franzel ultimately taking home the prize. It’s unclear which twist the show will take this time around.
“Game of Thrones” - July 16
The penultimate season of HBO’s hit fantasy series is sure to be a bloody good time. Several spoilers about Season 7 have already leaked and according to set photos, fans should expect numerous character encounters, including a meeting between Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).
“The Sinner”- Aug. 2
This who-done-it USA Network series stars Jessica Biel as a mother who commits violent acts on a beach but has no recollection or explanation as to why. Bill Pullman co-stars as the man trying to uncover the truth about the events. This series is only eight episodes so the last episode will also serve as the series finale.
“Bachelor in Paradise”- Aug. 8
After Rachel Lindsay gets engaged on “The Bachelorette” Season 13 finale (spoiler alert: we know who she picks!), ABC viewers can tune in to the new season of “Bachelor in Paradise.” While the network has not yet revealed which “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” castoffs will star, the past three seasons have proven to be entertaining to say the least.
