  • Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2022
  • By doing so, Reigns retained his unified titles
  • Reigns could next face Drew McIntyre

Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE and Universal Champion, has reached another milestone after the latest edition of the SummerSlam event.

Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar at the Last Man Standing fight at SummerSlam, dubbed the "Biggest Party of the Summer," on Sunday at Nissan Stadium, Nashville. The two legendary WWE wrestlers gave it their all before The Usos intervened and helped the Tribal Chief to retain his unified titles.

The victory at SummerSlam saw Reigns complete a record 700 days as the Universal Champion in WWE, according to Wrestle Ops. He won the title on Aug. 30, 2020, at WWE Payback by beating "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match.

Reigns has also been the WWE Champion for over 100 days. Reigns had unified the two titles by defeating Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 in Texas earlier this year. Following the loss at "The Show of Shows," Lesnar did not make a WWE appearance for a few months. While Randy Orton was initially picked to challenge Reigns at SummerSlam, Lesnar had to step in after the RK-Bro member picked up an injury and underwent surgery.

It was reported that the SummerSlam event would see the end of Lesnar and Reigns' iconic rivalry in WWE.

At the SummerSlam, The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) defeated The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) by pinfall and retained the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. Bobby Lashley, on the other hand, defeated Austin Theory by submission to claim the WWE United States Championship.

The Head of the Table's next challenger will be Drew McIntyre. The two-time WWE Champion will look to dethrone Reigns when the duo comes face to face for the Castle Premium Live Event at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on Sept. 3, WWE confirmed in an official release.

A match between Reigns and McIntyre has been on the table for quite some time now as the Scottish Warrior is considered among the top contenders who could finally dethrone Reigns.
