Super Bowl LVI: Location, Teams, Channel, Date For 56th Championship Game
Super Bowl LVI is all but guaranteed to be the most-watched television event in the United States for 2022. Every year, tens of millions of Americans tune into the NFL’s championship game, bringing together diehard and casual football fans, as well as people who rarely watch sports.
Don’t know much about the 56th Super Bowl? Here’s a quick guide to the game, including the Super Bowl LVI date, location, teams and television information.
What teams are in the Super Bowl?
The Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals will play each other in Super Bowl LVI. The two teams have never met in the Super Bowl. The Rams have gone 1-3 in the Super Bowl throughout the franchise’s history. The Bengals have only played in two Super Bowls and are still seeking their first-ever championship.
Los Angeles has been among the Super Bowl favorites since the season started. Cincinnati was given almost no chance to win the Super Bowl when the season began. The Rams are now given the best chance to win the title.
Where is the Super Bowl being played?
Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California, will host the Super Bowl just 17 months after it opened. At a cost of $5.5 billion, it’s the most expensive sports venue ever built. It’s the eighth time that the Super Bowl will be played in the Greater Los Angeles Area, but just the first time in 29 years.
Sofi Stadium is also home to the Rams, making L.A. just the second team ever to play the Super Bowl in its own venue. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers did it last year, though it was in front of a limited-capacity crowd because of the pandemic. No team played the Super Bowl in its home stadium for the first 54 years.
When and how can I watch the Super Bowl?
Super Bowl LVI is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 13.
NBC has the television rights. There will be several streaming options for the Super Bowl, including Peacock, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 million people are expected to watch the Super Bowl. More than 90 million people have watched the game every year since 2006.
