Superbon-Allazov Featherweight Kickboxing Title Tilt Rescheduled For ONE On Prime Video 5

After originally being scheduled for September 30, Chingiz Allazov will finally get to challenge Superbon Singha Mawynn for his ONE featherweight kickboxing title on December 2 at ONE on Prime Video 5.

ONE Championship CEO and chairman Chatri Sityodtong announced that Superbon had to pull out of the ONE on Prime Video 2 card a day before it happened because "he's as sick as a dog" and wanted to fight on the Malaysia card this past weekend.

With how little time the promotion had to find Superbon's then-opponent Tayfun Ozcan someone to fight, he was matched up with Marat Grigorian and eventually fell to him by unanimous decision.

Superbon was originally supposed to fight the Grand Prix winner in Allazov, but the latter was forced to pull out due to an injury that allowed Ozcan to be elevated to the title scene.

With both Superbon and Allazov off ONE on Prime Video 2, the flyweight submission grappling title match between Mikey Musumeci and Cleber Sousa was elevated to co-main event status with the former capturing the inaugural title.

Allazov was destined to face Superbon after defeating Thailand's Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in the finals of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing Grand Prix at ONE X this past March.

Coincidentally, Superbon also defeated Sitthichai in his own ONE Championship debut to earn a shot at the ONE featherweight kickboxing title en route to capturing the strap with a phenomenal head kick knockout of Giorgio Petrosyan in October 2021.

Superbon has already defended his title once against Grigorian in a lopsided decision victory.

Despite the title fight being seemingly cursed to never take place, ONE Championship and its fans are hoping that the decision to schedule the fight in December will prevent any untimely injuries from taking place.

ONE on Prime Video 5 is one of two cards set for Manila, Philippines, and with a fight of this magnitude, one would think that it would take place in either the co-main event or in the headlining fight itself.

The promotion recently announced that the ONE Atomweight Muay Thai unification bout between interim champion Janet Todd and lineal titleholder Allycia Hellen Rodrigues who has been off a couple of months as she celebrated the birth of her child.

Joining the two fights on the card is the long-awaited debut of Croatian mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar Roberto Soldic as he takes on undefeated Russian Murad Ramazanov in what could possibly be the bout preceding the two headlining matches.

The rest of the card is expected to be filled out in the coming weeks.
