‘Supergirl’: Calista Flockhart Reprising Her Role As Cat Grant In Season 2 Finale
Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant is going back to National City!
According to Deadline, Flockhart is appearing in the last two episodes of “Supergirl” Season 2. The penultimate episode of the show’s sophomore run is slated to air on May 15, while the season finale is set to air on May 22.
Flockhart was a series regular in Season 1, but after the show’s production was moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver, the Golden Globe-winning actress and Warner Bros. TV reached an agreement that she would only return for Season 2 as a recurring guest star.

Keeping Flockhart onboard with the new filming location had been an issue because the “Ally McBeal” alum was not willing to move with her family to Vancouver. Although she was not obligated to continue, Flockhart decided not to quit the show completely.
Cat was last seen in Season 2, episode 2, titled “The Last Children of Krypton.” At the end of the episode, Cat decided to take a leave of absence from CatCo Worldwide Media to find bigger and better things to accomplish after she felt stagnant in the world of media she already dominated. Before she left CatCo, Cat promoted James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) to be her stand-in while she’s away.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg seemed positive in February that they would be able to get Flockhart back by season’s end. “We’re working on it,” Kreisberg said (via Entertainment Weekly) at the time. “We love Calista, Calista loves us, she loves the show. She has other commitments and family and whatnot, but we’re trying to work it out.”
Plot details about the final two episodes of the season are being kept under wraps, but it would be interesting to see Cat’s reaction when she finds out that Snapper (Ian Gomez) fired Kara from CatCo.
“Supergirl” returns from its month-long hiatus with Season 2, episode 18 on Monday, April 24 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
