‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers: Kara And James Try To Stop A Group Of Criminals Equipped With Alien Technology In Episode 5 Sneak Peek
A new gang of criminals armed with dangerous alien technology is going to wreak havoc in National City in tomorrow’s episode of “Supergirl.”
In a sneak peek for Season 2, episode 5, titled “Crossfire,” Kara (Melissa Benoist) and James (Mehcad Brooks) try to stop the said group of lawbreakers from robbing West National City Bank. Thwarting the criminals’ plan might be easy for Supergirl, if only one of the thieves weren't wielding a gun designed using alien technology. After the Girl of Steel is hit by the super-powered gun, she tries to destroy it using her heat vision but to no avail.
James helps Supergirl to stop criminals but he — just like Supergirl — ends up being knocked down to the ground. This encounter with the bad guys is probably one of the things that’s going to push James assume the vigilante identity of the Guardian.
According to the synopsis for the episode, Cadmus is the one providing the criminals with the super-powered guns.
“They’re the big bad of the first part of the year,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said of Cadmus in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month.
Kreisberg explained that the scientists that make up Cadmus are committed to eliminate all forms of alien life on Earth — not only the alien escapees from Fort Rozz but also the superhero ones like Supergirl, Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Martian Manhunter (David Harewood).
“They don’t care that you’re wearing a cape one day,” he said of the people behind Cadmus. “So their goal is to eliminate the J’onns and the Supermans and the Supergirls of the world along with all the other evil aliens that are out there — they don’t make that distinction, which creates an interesting problem for our good guys.”
Also in episode 5, Kara gets Mon-El (Chris Wood) a job as an intern at CatCo, and Lena (Katie McGrath) invites Kara to attend one her fundraisers.
“Supergirl” Season 2, episode 5 airs on Monday, Nov.7, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
