‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers: Melissa Benoist Says ‘Wonder Woman’ Actress Lynda Carter Is Returning For More Episodes
Original “Wonder Woman” actress Lynda Carter is set to return in Season 2 of “Supergirl.”
During a recent Q&A with fans on The Huffington Post’s “Build Series,” “Supergirl” star Melissa Benoist revealed that Carter is going to reprise her role as President Olivia Marsdin in upcoming episodes of the current season.
“As far as I know — and I hope I don’t get in trouble for saying this — but she was signed on for more [episodes], and I know she wanted to [return],” Benoist said of Carter. “She’s so awesome, by the way. She is so wonderful.”
“I think it’s a really interesting storyline, and it’s pretty cool that it’s a woman president,” Benoist added of Carter’s storyline and character on the CW series.
Carter made her debut as President Olivia Marsdin in Season 2, episode 3 of “Supergirl.” In the episode, titled “Welcome to Earth,” the President visited National City to sign her alien amnesty act, which allows aliens on Earth to come out of the shadows and live as full citizens. However, the President’s true motive for signing the act became unclear when it was revealed at the end of the episode that the head of state herself is also an alien.
In a Facebook Live Q&A hours before the airing of her debut episode, Carter revealed that she had no particular favorite scene from the episode, because she enjoyed doing every scenes she’s in.
“I think it was the whole experience,” Carter said when asked if she had a favorite scene from the episode. “It’s like asking a singer what their favorite note is. I think it was the embodiment of the character living inside the skin of something that you give life to. … The challenge is to make a new character, a real [character].”
The 1972 Miss World America also had nothing but praises for Benoist. “I love Melissa and I think she does a great job on it,” Carter said of Benoist portraying the Girl of Steel. “She nailed it. She really nailed being the human being inside the superhero.”
“Supergirl” airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Check out the synopsis for next week’s Season 2, episode 10, titled “We Can Be Heroes,” below:
