‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers: Why Alex And Maggie’s Relationship Won’t Be Smooth Sailing
Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Floriana Lima) finally became a couple at the end of “Supergirl’s” midseason finale. That, however, doesn’t guarantee that things are going to be easy between the two moving forward because just like any other romance, their relationship isn’t going to be smooth sailing.
“There’s definitely some bumps,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly. “Just because they are together now doesn’t mean it’s going to go smoothly.”
Kreisberg noted that being in a romantic relationship is new to Alex, so it won’t be surprising if she encounters some problems along the way. And while Alex currently has high regards for Maggie, the DEO agent will later discover that the NCPD police detective is also flawed like everyone else.
“Alex has never been in this kind of relationship before and she’s going to make some rookie mistakes that they’ll have to get past,” Kreisberg said. “[Meanwhile,] Maggie has been presented as being the perfect guide for Alex’s journey this season, but Alex is going to learn that Maggie isn’t perfect, which is going to lead to some difficult situations coming down the road.”
Although Alex and Maggie are going to face some challenges in their relationship as Season 2 continues, the dynamic between the two characters won’t always be pensive. “It’s going to be funny, it’s going to be serious, it’s going to be romantic, it’s going to be heartbreaking,” Kreisberg told The Hollywood Reporter of the pair’s Season 2 storyline. “It’s going to be everything that any relationship that you see on TV, no matter what the gender, should and will be.”
Hours after the midseason finale of “Supergirl” aired, Leigh took to Instagram to thank the show’s executive producers for writing a beautiful love story for Alex and Maggie. Read her post below:
