T Mobile (TMUS) Won't Stock BlackBerry Smartphones In Stores, But Wal-Mart (WMT), AT&T (T), Best Buy (BBY) And Others Will

T Mobile US Inc (NYSE:TMUS) plans to stop stocking BlackBerry Ltd (Nasdaq:BBRY) smartphones on its store shelves and instead ship the phones directly, an executive for the company said.

BlackBerry customers can continue to buy the smartphones from T-Mobile's website or in stores, but they will have to wait for their order to ship.

You can still buy a BlackBerry in stores and online from some locations of AT&T (NYSE:T), Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), Sprint stores and from Wal-Mart Stores (NYSE:WMT). The smartphones are also available from RadioShack (NYSE:RSH), Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) and online from Target (NYSE:TGT), Amazon (Nasdaq:AMZN), Wirefly and others.

David Carey, an executive vice president for corporate services, told Reuters about the plan on Wednesday. BlackBerry announced earlier this week it would no longer market to consumers because of a decline in smartphone sales.

Carey said keeping the BlackBerry phones in the retail distribution system was inefficient because they have not been in high demand with consumers, and the phones are mostly purchased by businesses outside the stores.

"Therefore we will display and sell it in the store for those consumers who would like to see one," Carey said.
