Is Tarek El Moussa Sick? ‘Flip Or Flop’ had Cancer Screening Before Split
“Flip or Flop” star Tarek El Moussa was screened for cancer two weeks before his split from Christina, who he married in 2009. The couple announced their separation Monday, months after a blowout fight at their California home.
Tarek, 34, took to Instagram to talk about the cancer scare. He posted a throwback photo of himself with Christina, which was taken after he had his thyroid and lymph nodes removed in 2013. “Rough couple of years,” he wrote Nov. 23. “Today I Went in for another cancer screening and it was all clear! I remember the day we took this photo.” The photo was liked nearly 13,000 times by his 75,000 followers.
Tarek was alerted about the mass after a registered nurse, who watched a marathon of “Flip or Flop” and noticed the lump, contacted the show’s producers, Us Weekly wrote Tuesday.
When Tarek was diagnosed with cancer, giving up was never an option. “We made a decision not to slow down, not to stop. We're gonna run the business. We're gonna fight through this cancer, 'cause the second you slow down is the second it gets scary and you start getting depressed,” Tarek told the “Today” show in 2015. Christina, 33, added: “I was just feeling totally overwhelmed about losing him.”
The El Moussas have two children together: 6-year-old daughter Taylor and 15-month-old son Brayden.
Tarek and Christina have reportedly been seeing other people for months, People Magazine wrote Tuesday. Infidelity, however, was not a cause for their split.
“Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage,” they said in a statement Monday. “We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”
“Flip of Flop” airs on HGTV Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST.
