Taylor Swift has a knack for setting records with her music. After creating a plethora of records in the launch week of her newest album “Folklore,” the acclaimed singer has added one more feather in her cap.
The 30-year-old musician has become the first artist in history to spend 40 weeks at the numero uno position on the Billboard Artist 100 chart, Billboard reported. The “Cardigan” hitmaker was able to achieve the monumental feat after her latest album claimed the top spot for the third straight week.
The talented musician has extended her lead in terms of being atop the Billboard charts. Other musicians who are included on the list are Drake, The Weeknd, Post Malone, and Ariana Grande.
The “Hotline Bling” hitmaker claimed the second position on the coveted list and has spent 31 weeks at the number one position. Meanwhile, the creator of the blockbuster song “Blinding Lights,” The Weeknd, has spent 20 weeks at the top. Malone (14 weeks) and Grande (13) rounded off the top five.
“Folklore” is Swift’s seventh album to claim the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The “Lover” hitmaker has now joined Janet Jackson at the third position on the list of women with the most number one albums on the chart.
The album sold over 846,000 units in its first week. It instantly marked the biggest week for an album that was released in 2020.
The album received universal acclaim from the critics as well as the audience. “Folklore” has a critic rating of 88 on Metacritic and has a 9.5 user rating on the site. The Guardian gave the album five stars and complimented “Folklore” for being both the most cohesive and the most experimental among Swift's releases.
