Taylor Swift Concert On TV: Where To Watch ‘City Of Lover’ Special
Taylor Swift had to cancel her summer Lover Fest tour dates, but she is bringing a little concert magic to the small screen. Swift has teamed up with Disney to air her September Paris show in a special called “Taylor Swift City Of Lover Concert.”
The special is much cheaper than a stadium ticket. Many will be able to watch the show on ABC. The alphabet network will air Swift’s concert special at 10 p.m. EDT on Sunday, May 17, immediately after the “American Idol” finale. The concert will live stream on ABC.com at the same time, but viewers will need login information.
Those who have cut the cord and don’t have broadcast TV anymore can rest assured that they’ll be able to watch the “You Need To Calm Down” singer rock out--as long as they have streaming subscriptions. The “City of Lover Concert” will start streaming on both Disney+ and Hulu on Monday, May 18.
Previously, Swift put her "Reputation" tour special on Netflix, the biggest competitor of Hulu and Disney+.
The new show was filmed at L’Olympia Theater in Paris, France, a venue with a capacity of 2,824 people for concerts. For Swift, who has been playing stadiums for quite a few years, that makes this a rare intimate performance.
The Sept. 9 show was from when Swift was promoting her “Lover” album, released last August. Expect her to perform plenty of songs from the LP, including “The Man,” “Cornelia Street” and, of course, the title track, “Lover.” The multi-platinum selling artist will also play some of her older hits as well. Her setlist reportedly includes “Blank Space,” “Love Story” and “All Too Well.”
The hour-long special is also going to include some unseen footage. ABC claims that “City of Lover” gives “unprecedented access to behind-the-scenes moments” with Swift.
The singer has been keeping fans updated while she’s in isolation during this health crisis. Swift has posted on Instagram about her baking projects and cats while performing on charity specials and releasing a behind-the-scenes look at her latest music video, “The Man,” to help fans stay entertained while under stay-at-home orders.
