Teacup Pigs are increasingly wanted as pets, breeder says
The teacup pigs were featured this morning on NBC's Today Show because of its growing demand from people including from celebrities who want them as their pets.
The teacup pigs are a diminutive breed of pig which can grow up to knee height, the size of a small spaniel or 12 to 16 inches. They are really clean, highly intelligent and require a lot of attention and love, their breeder Jane Croft told anchors Meredith Vieira and Ann Curry.
Harry Potter's Rupper Grint who plays Ron Weasley reportedly bougth two teacup pigs from Croft, she said.
The pigs sell in the U.K. for about $1,100 each, but are not officially available in the United States, according to information from the Today Show. Usually they are sold in pairs.
Croft says 5 to 10 pigs are sold per week.
