Teen Dies After Girlfriend's Family Cuts Off His Genitals, Beats Him Up In Savage Attack

A teenager has been killed over an alleged love affair after his girlfriend's family brutally beat him up and mutilated his genitals.

Saurabh Kumar, 17, from a village in the northern Indian state of Bihar, was brutally thrashed Friday night after his girlfriend's family saw him at her place.

Kumar was tied to a tree and thrashed with an iron rod after the girl's family found him at her house at around midnight Friday. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to death Saturday, The Times of India reported.

After Kumar's death, his family who lived in the same village as that of his girlfriend attacked her house. They performed his funeral in front of her house Sunday, reported India Today

"Prima facie shows that the boy was killed over an alleged love affair. He was beaten and his genitals were cut off. A postmortem is being done and further details about the injuries will be revealed after the report comes," Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said, India Today reported, citing news agency ANI.

The girlfriend's father, identified as Sushant Pandey, has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder. A case has been registered against all the suspects and raids are on to nab the other suspects who are absconding, police said.

Meanwhile, the officers have arrested three suspects, identified as Ashok Thakur, Ranjit Kumar and Mukesh Kumar, on charges of attacking the girl's family after the victim's death.

"There is an atmosphere of tension in the village after the incident, so as a precautionary measure, police are patrolling the area. The relatives of the deceased have been assured of speedy action," an investigating officer told India Today.

Earlier this month, a 20-year-old woman in India was allegedly set ablaze by her neighbor over her relationship with his brother. The unidentified woman from the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh suffered 40 % burns after she was reportedly doused in petrol and set on fire by her neighbor identified as Pawan. Pawan was reportedly upset with the woman's relationship with his elder brother.
