A teen shot and killed his elder brother during an argument over drugs. The incident took place in New Delhi.

Police began an investigation after the body of a man was found in a vacant plot on Jan. 4. The body was identified as that of 31-year-old Deepak, who was a resident of the locality.

“A murder case was registered and a probe was ordered. Several teams were constituted for the investigation,” police said, adding that the victim’s near and dear ones were questioned and the call details of all of them were analyzed. Police began suspecting the victim’s family members after they refused to cooperate.

“The behavior of the family members was found suspicious. They were also not cooperating with the police. Discreet enquiries later revealed that they were involved in the murder,” police said Saturday.

The victim’s brother, identified as 19-year-old Nitin, and father, Chander Pal, were detained for questioning. During interrogation, Nitin confessed to fatally shooting his brother and Pal confessed to helping the accused dump the body in the vacant plot.

It was revealed that the victim was a drug addict. On the morning of the incident, Deepak demanded drugs from his younger brother. Nitin rebuked him and in a fit of rage, Deepak took out a pistol and threatened to shoot at his brother. Nitin, however, managed to snatch the weapon from the deceased and shot him in the chest. Deepak died on the spot. Pal then helped his younger son dump the body. The father-son duo was arrested and remained in custody as of Sunday.
