KEY POINTS
- Clayton Beathard, younger of San Francisco 49ers Quarterback C.J. Beathard was stabbed and killed outside a bar Saturday
- Another victim, Paul Trapeni III, was also killed during the incident
- Michael D. Mosley was arrested Wednesday after police released a surveillance video inside the bar
The man responsible for the death of the brother of an NFL quarterback was arrested Wednesday, according to police.
23-year-old Michael D. Mosley was taken into custody and is set to face two counts of criminal homicide and one count of attempted criminal homicide for the death of Clayton Beathard, said NBC News, citing a statement form the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
The 22-year-old Beathard is the younger brother of San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard and grandson of NFL hall-of-famer Bobby Beathard.
21-year-old Paul Trapeni III was also killed during the altercation outside a Nashville bar over the weekend.
Both Beathard and Trapeni III were stabbed and killed, while another victim was injured during the incident, said NBC News in a separate article.
The victims were 2016 graduates of Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee.
Mosley's arrest came after police released a surveillance footage inside the Dogwood Bar. Authorities also said they wanted to question the suspect, who was “present” at the time of the stabbing.
“The fatal stabbings appear to have resulted from an argument over a woman that began inside Dogwood Bar and then turned physical when the parties went outside,” said the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
Multiple persons were involved in the fight, where Beathard and Trapeni III were “fatally stabbed in their sides.”
Both were rushed and treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center but were pronounced dead. The third victim was released and was only identified as a 21-year-old.
Police said Mosley is a convicted felon and is considered to be a danger. He had been convicted multiple times, including charges of aggravated robbery, two counts of felony aggravated assault and car theft.
Mosley was released on a $5,000 bond during the time of the stabbing. He is now being held without bail for his two homicide charges, while a $5 million bond is set for his remaining count, said NBC.
