A pedophile’s attempt to kidnap a nine-year-old girl was foiled by a teen who managed to save the victim after hearing her cries for help. The incident took place in Irkutsk, Russia, on Monday.

The boy, identified as 16-year-old Vyacheslav Doroshenko, finished his basketball training and was walking home when he heard a girl’s cries for help. He then noticed an unidentified elderly man grabbing a young girl and pushing her into a car on the street.

Recalling the incident, he said, “I overtook her, reached the railway and heard her screaming. And I saw how a man was forcing her into a car.”

“I quickly turned around, saw the only adult person, ran to him, told him what happened, and we ran towards the kidnapper’s car,” he added.

Upon seeing Doroshenko and the man, identified as Gleb Sizykh, the kidnapper started his car and drove away. The two then hoped into Sizykh’s car and followed the kidnapper. A while later, the kidnapper drove into a dead end and Sizykh managed to block him. Doroshenko and Sizykh confronted the kidnapper and asked him to let the girl go. The kidnapper let the girl go and told them that he mistook her for his sister. The girl was crying at the time.

“She stood at the fence crying. I did not know how to approach her. I understood that she would now be afraid of me,” Sizykh said. He then gave his cellphone to the girl who called her mother.

Meanwhile, the kidnapper, a rape convict, managed to flee from the scene but was caught by police in less than an hour. The charges against the kidnapper were not known.

CCTV footage of the incident released by the police showed the man grabbing the girl and pushing her into the car. The girl was undergoing psychological counseling following the incident.
