A teen set a car and two of his family members on fire after he was not allowed to drive the vehicle. The incident took place in Bau, Malaysia, on Sunday night.

Police said the 19-year-old unidentified teen got angry after he was not allowed to drive his father’s car.

“The suspect’s brother and his 25-year-old brother-in-law refused to hand him the car keys which caused the suspect to allegedly utter threats of burning and bombing the car,” police said.

The teen then left the scene and returned with a flammable liquid container. He then doused the car and parts of the home including the front gates with the liquid before igniting it with a lighter. When the teen’s brother and the brother-in-law tried to stop him, he doused them with the liquid.

“As both victims were standing next to the car, the fire soon spread to their bodies causing burn injuries to the brother’s head, abdomen and both of his arms and legs. The brother-in-law only suffered burns to his left leg,” police said.

The teen’s sister immediately alerted the fire and rescue department. The firefighters reached the scene and extinguished the blaze with the help of some of the villagers. Meanwhile, the teen fled the scene on a bike.

Police said the investigation was ongoing. There was, however, no update about the teen’s arrest.

The incident comes less than a month after a Malaysian man set his home on fire after realizing there was no food to eat. Police said the man was angry about not having anything to eat and in a fit of rage, he doused the wall in the front portion of the home with petrol before igniting it with a lighter. The man’s mother noticed it and immediately informed her husband, who woke up from sleep and doused the fire before the blaze could spread. The man was taken into custody.
