Tekashi 6ix9ine Update: Is The Rapper's Testimony Worth The Risk?
Following the 15-year sentence of his former manager, Shotti, Tekashi 6ix9ine is preparing to take the stand and testify in court in front of the same gang members that were at his side as part of the Nine Trey Bloods. However, the rapper will be doing it without support from his family, who has reportedly decided to be absent from courtroom for their own safety.
According to TMZ, Tekashi 6ix9ine’s immediate family is afraid of retaliation from the Nine Trey Bloods gang members that he is testifying against as part of a plea deal to lower his own sentence. Tekashi 6ix9ine pleaded guilty to nine felony counts, which included racketeering.
The rapper’s family reportedly doesn’t want anyone to see their faces when Tekashi 6ix9ine essentially snitches on two men that were allegedly involved in his kidnapping last year, the news outlet said. Tekashi 6ix9ine’s family members are afraid that they may be followed or attacked by the Nine Trey Bloods members that are thought to show up in court that day, TMZ said.
Tekashi 6ix9ine did hire extra security for his family, but it may not have been enough to keep them safe as he has been worried about this day since it was decided that his testimony would be used in the trial. A hit was sent out for Tekashi 6ix9ine saying that if any rival bloods came across the rapper, they were to “fire on him.”
The rapper will take the stand next week, where it is anticipated that he will name the individuals involved in the kidnapping as well as another people connected to Nine Trey Bloods crimes in addition to implicating himself.
Prosecutors have already revealed court documents that suggest that Tekashi 6ix9ine was paying his fellow gang members and will reveal the names of the individuals connected to texts, social media posts, DMs and other types of communications that could incriminate the gang members without their alias to protect them, TMZ reported.
After being charged with nine felony counts, Tekashi 6ix9ine faced a minimum of 47 years behind bars but is now looking to get out in a few years through his plea deal. His girlfriend, Jade, suggested the rapper was getting out in six months.
There is also the possibility that Tekashi 6ix9ine will reportedly become a member of the witness protection program, which may prove difficult with his distinctive tattooed appearance.
