Tennessee Attorney Allegedly Raped His Daughter's Teen Babysitter, Charged
An attorney in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was charged for raping a teenage babysitter at his home Friday.
According to local reports, the unidentified teen was babysitting 49-year-old David Whelan’s daughter at his home when the incident took place.
Rutherford County Detective Sgt. Steve Craig said, “When he arrived home, he allegedly raped her. She was able to escape and call 911 for help immediately.”
Officers arrived at the scene and locked it down. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the home to collect evidence and also interviewed the victim. Following the interview, the accused was taken into custody and charged with aggravated rape and aggravated kidnapping. He was being held at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and his bond was set at $130,000. A hearing was scheduled for Aug. 3.
The incident comes less than a month after a man in Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested for raping an elderly woman in her home. The accused, identified as Justin Arnold, was in his 70-year-old neighbor’s home when he forced her to drink some wine. When she refused, the man hit her in the face and raped her on knifepoint. The man was taken into custody and charged with aggravated rape, aggravated abuse of an elderly.
