Tennessee Teen Flees Home After Fatally Shooting Her Father, Arrested Following Search
A teen girl shot dead her father inside their home in Nashville, Tennessee. The 18-year-old has been charged with criminal homicide for the incident that occurred on Monday (June 8).
According to reports from the Metro Police, Trynity Meadows fatally shot her 49-year-old father, Otis Meadows, inside the family's home at the 2000 block of Pinebrook Trail in Antioch.
Deputies responded to the home at around 1:40 p.m after receiving a call from Trynity’s elder brother. The 29-year-old reported thathe found his father lying motionless near the door after he heard gunshots being fired.
The brother, whose name has not been revealed, reported that he then saw his younger sister running away. The officers found Otis lying unresponsive inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputies initiated an investigation and reviewed a surveillance video in which Trynity is seen standing at the front door armed with a handgun. The video was captured moments before she fled the scene.
A search was initiated and a short while later, Trynity was taken into custody. She refused to respond to the investigators during the initial interrogation. The police have not yet recovered the murder weapon.
According to the Metro Police, two reports of domestic disputes between the father and daughter were previously filed where Trynity was listed as the suspect. During one such incident reported in November last year, authorities were alerted about a teen who had been throwing things around the house without a reason.
In April this year, officers had responded to the home after receiving reports about a verbal dispute between the duo. No injuries were reported in either incident.
No other individuals were inside the home during Monday’s incident. The motive behind the slaying is still unknown.
The police are trying to recover the gun involved in the slaying. It is unclear as to how Trynity got hold of the gun. The case is under investigation and no further details were available at the time of this writing.
In another similar incident reported on May 7, Matthew Perez hailing from Tavares, Florida, shot his father to death following a domestic dispute. He was charged with first-degree murder.
