Tesla vehicles have been making the rounds as one of the most awaited automobiles in the market today. At the start of the year, we had the Model Y making waves as the most anticipated electric-powered SUV to hit while the recently-revealed next-generation Roadster captured the fancy of classic car collectors.

Now the Tesla Pickup is slowly making its way into the psyche of Tesla fans and car enthusiasts in general thanks to Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s promise that it will be a “futuristic” vehicle. That statement definitely captured the fancy of gear heads because Musk himself described the pick-up to fit well in scenes we’ve seen in sci-fi movies like "Blade Runner."

It will be so futuristic that Tesla’s chief engineer believes that it might not sell as much and the company might need to come up with unconventional designs in the end.

Still, this hasn’t stopped some analysts from creating concept images of what the “cyberpunk” vehicle might actually look like. Some artists have created some pretty cool renderings of steampunk-inspired pickups and it’s getting people excited for the real thing.

According to Teslarati, concept artist Emre Husmen has come up with a Tesla Pickup Truck image that more than qualifies as a futuristic vehicle. The concept vehicle has considerable ground clearance and a massive body make. But what truly stands out is the artist’s take on the headlights and taillights.

Based on the look, the artist based the headlights on the Model X’ front fascia, which is already quite modern, to begin with. The report also likened the design to Rivian’s R1T pickup although Husman’s version has a double cab design and a short bed that may prove not as useful compared to most trucks.

Of course, the final design is still to be seen although Musk described that the body will most likely be based on the all-electric long-hauler. During the Model Y unveiling, Tesla gave a very small glimpse of the new Tesla Pickup, showing a rather angular design.

The vehicle is expected to impress not only in looks but in performance as well. It will have dual motors that are capable of towing 300,000 pounds. It can fit up to six people and has practical functions that most pickups are known for like a 240-volt connection that can be used to run heavy duty tools.

The pickup is expected to be revealed sometime this year.
