The police responded to the incident on Jan. 19 at a house in Porter around 11.55 a.m. (12.55 a.m. ET). When the deputies arrived at the scene, they found the four victims with stab wounds. The victims, who were found with lacerations and wounds, were taken to a hospital and were reported to be in serious but stable condition.

Carlin was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon including charges for causing injury to a child. He was transported to Montgomery County jail.
Aggravated assault is a felony that may involve an attack committed with a weapon or with the intent to commit a serious crime. The assault is also considered aggravated if the crime is committed in the course of a relationship that the legal system regards as worthy of special protection. It allows sentencing of approximately one to twenty years in prison, depending on the specific provisions of each state’s sentencing statute or sentencing guidelines.
