A Texas man broke into his girlfriend's Forth Worth home Monday night and allegedly shot both her teenage sons to death.

Jesse Williams, 51, was arrested by the North Richland Hills Police Department on capital murder charges in connection with the deaths of the children, KWTX-TV reported. Investigators believe Williams forced his way inside the home while the mother wasn't present and shot the two boys in the head when they were likely sleeping.

The mother of the children, who came home 45 minutes after the shooting, found one of the boys, Isaiah Aponte, 19, still breathing and immediately called for help, Wild Sage reported. Aponte was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police initially thought other suspects were involved in the killings but CCTV footage from the scene only showed Williams was behind the double murder. He was captured after a vehicle pursuit with the deputies. Williams' mugshot at the detention center showed him with cuts and scrapes all across his face, with his left eye swollen shut, which probably resulted from the tussle with cops during his arrest, KWTX-TV reported.

Williams' bond was set at $2 million.

Officials believe the murders took place in the evening, as per the police statement. The other child, 17-year-old Anthony Aponte, was declared dead at the scene. The motive behind the murders will be determined in the investigation.

In December 2019, a Connecticut man, identified as Paul W. Ferguson, 42, shot his girlfriend's children to death before turning the gun on himself. The children, identified as Sterling Jette Jr., 16, and Della Jette, 15, later died at a hospital. The shooting reportedly took place after Ferguson and the children's mother argued over him smoking inside the house. The man first shot the boy in the leg and then the girl in the chest when their mother intervened. The mother, identified as Danielle Jette, was unharmed. She called police following the shooting and deputies found Ferguson dead from a gunshot wound at the residence.
