Texas Murder-Suicide: Man Fatally Shoots Girlfriend's 15-Year-Old Daughter Following Argument, Then Kills Self
A man fatally shot his girlfriend’s teen daughter before killing himself in Georgetown, Texas, on Thursday night.
According to local reports, police arrived at a home on 1000 block of Tiffany Lane around 8:10 p.m. April 2 after receiving information of a gun being fired. The officers found the 15-year-old unidentified teen and 37-year-old Ruben Tobias Jr. lying in a pool of blood. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation revealed that the man and the teen got into a heated argument during which Tobias Jr. went to his room and took out his handgun. He returned to the room where his girlfriend, identified as 40-year-old Leonda Moore, and her daughter were. He then opened fire at both of them before turning the gun on himself.
Moore managed to flee the home and alert a neighbor. She was rushed to a nearby hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to her body. She was undergoing treatment and was listed stable.
A 13-year-old boy, who was also at the home when the shooting took place, managed to flee and was now being taken care by his family members. Investigation into the incident was ongoing.
The incident comes a few days after a man fatally shot his two teenage sons before killing himself in Las Vegas. Police responded to a home after receiving a shooting report and found a teenage girl climbing out of the house through a window. The unidentified girl told the officers that her father had opened fire. She also told them that her two brothers were still inside the home.
The officers entered the residence and found the girl’s brothers with multiple gunshot wounds to the bodies. The father of the teenage boys was also found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. All the three were declared dead at the scene.
