Texas Murder-Suicide: Man Kills Wife Then Shoots Self Over Marital Issues; Son Finds Bodies

In a murder-suicide incident in Texas, a man killed his wife before fatally shooting himself. Authorities said the bodies of the couple were found by their teenage son.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies received a call about a shooting at a home on Little Pine Lane. The couple's 16-year-old son, who called 911, told officials he had found both his parents dead inside their home.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found the couple's bodies in the basement of their home.

“It’s still preliminary that he, the father, may have sent some message right prior to the shooting to the son, just, basically, advising him, ‘Take care of,’ you know, ‘your brother,’ or something, just a general message like that, and that’s when everything went down,” Gonzalez said, adding the couple likely was having marital issues for a while.

“With the increase in murders that we’ve had this year, the biggest category has been as a result of domestic violence,” Gonzalez told Click2Houston.

The victims, both in their 40s, are yet to be identified, local police said, adding an investigation is underway.

In a recent double murder-suicide incident in Florida, a woman fatally shot her husband and their special needs son before killing herself. The bodies of the victims were found after someone reported to thepolice about a foul smell coming from the Clermont home.

“It is very sad. Yeah, it’s one of those cases that I just hate to see. It’s heartbreaking and we wish there could have been a better way around whatever the family was dealing with but yeah, very tragic, very sad especially this time of year, no doubt,” Lake County sheriff’s Lt. John Herrell said, Click Orlando reported.

Police record showed the woman and her husband were in their 70s. Their identities were not revealed. Their son was in his 50s.

The family members were last seen three weeks before the murder-suicide incident when the husband returned home from hospital following a treatment.“I’m not sure what kind of health issues he had but he apparently had some significant health issues,” Herrell said.
