Texas Murder-Suicide: Man Stabs 44-Year-Old Woman Multiple Times Before Killing Self
In an apparent murder-suicide in Texas, a 38-year-old man fatally stabbed a woman multiple times before killing himself. Police said that the incident took place Tuesday in a central Midland neighborhood was actually a murder-suicide.
The Midland Police Department in a press release identified the woman as Iracema Diaz – a Food Services employee at Fannin Elementary. The woman was found unconscious, covered in blood, when authorities arrived at the scene.
Officers at the scene later located a male identified as Yasser Diaz Sanchez, who killed himself inside a residence. MPD detectives discovered the victim had been stabbed multiple times by the suspect. Police said that the knife used was found in the suspect’s vehicle parked at the residence, local media reported.
The next of kin of the victim and the suspect have been notified. The investigation is ongoing. The relationship between the two involved in the incident has not been revealed.
Last month, a woman in Texas shot her young children and her own mother before killing herself. Police said the exact motive was unknown, noting that the woman losing custody of her children to her estranged husband could have prompted the killings.
The incident took place inside a house at the Sedona Ranch Apartments on Henderson Pass. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said in a news briefing that authorities believe the woman was ordered by a court to turn her 3-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son over to their father.
The bodies were found by the children’s father when he checked inside from a crack in the window at the rear side of the apartment. The responding officers found the bodies of the woman, her children, and her mother in two separate bedrooms.
In another case of murder-suicide in Texas, a 73-year-old man fatally shot a 41-year-old woman before killing himself, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office said. Local authorities said that the duo was in a relationship for four years. The victims were identified as Lindolfo Meza Sanchez and Bertha Bermudez.
“Investigators learned Sanchez had been in a relationship with Bermudez for about four years and the couple had been living together for eleven months,” the news release stated. “A history check on the property and parties involved didn’t show any history of family violence. After the residence was processed, no signs of forced entry or burglary were found.”
