British Prime Minister Theresa May will finally announce her strategy for the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union this week. May was scheduled to give her first speech outlining the details of the Brexit Tuesday in London.

The address was due to be broadcast on major news networks at 11:45 a.m. GMT. Check for a live stream from BBC News here, Sky News here or the Conservatives Youtube channel here.

Since May stepped into her role as prime minister in July, she has been expected to lead the country’s exodus from the European Union since residents voted in favor of a Brexit, 52 percent to 48 percent, last June. Her predecessor, David Cameron, resigned in wake of the results.

“When the British people voted in the referendum last June, they did not simply vote to withdraw from the European Union; they voted to change the way our country works – and the people for whom it works – forever,” May wrote in a statement published on her Facebook page Jan. 8. “It was a quiet a revolution by those who feel the system has been stacked against them for too long – and an instruction to this Government to seize the opportunity of building a stronger, fairer Britain that works for everyone, not just a privileged few.”

This week, May will propose details of the upcoming Brexit before passing the EU exit clause, Article 50.

The prime minister will have to announce her decision as to whether she has plans for the country to stay in the “EU’s single market or customs union after Brexit,” the first of which eliminates tariffs on trade and the second of which sets tariffs for countries outside a certain group, the Independent reported Friday. Many feared a “hard Brexit” after May made recent remarks that hinted that she would opt for a single market, the Guardian reported.

May's Tuesday speech will also precede an important Supreme Court hearing that will determine whether or not she will be able to sign away from the EU under Article 50 without Parliament’s vote.

An official Brexit plan is still due to be released in February.
