‘Thor: Ragnarok’: Marvel Studios President Dedicates Movie To This Comic Book Artist
The works of the late comic book artist Jack Kirby lives on to this very day, and it even inspired the upcoming Marvel film “Thor: Ragnarok,” which is directed by Taika Waititi.
During Kirby’s 100th birthday, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige paid tribute to him and said that MCU wouldn’t have existed if not for Kirby’s vision.
Kirby passed away in 1994. During his lifetime, he helped breathe to life well-loved comic book characters such as Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and the Hulk, among many others.
As for “Thor: Ragnarok,” Feige revealed that it will conclude the “Thor” trilogy and will open up the storyline for their next “Avenger” film. “I think that we are finding ourselves as we complete Phase 3 and finish this 22-movie narrative that it’s working out that way,” he told the Toronto Sun. “We did three ‘Iron Man’ films, three ‘Captain America’ films, three ‘Thor’ films. Things change drastically in ‘Ragnarok’ and then build directly into ‘Infinity War.’”
But before the Avengers can concentrate on collecting the Infinity Stones, which will be integral in the upcoming “Avengers” films, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has to defeat the villainess Hela (Cate Blanchett) first.
Hela is so powerful that even Mark Ruffalo, the actor who plays the Hulk, is terrified of her. “She plays the worst of the worst,” Ruffalo told Entertainment Weekly. “So evil. She is going to kill us. It’s such a great part she gets to play.”
Thor and Hulk will even be getting some help from Thor’s half-brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who is always hellbent on causing mischief. But due to Hela’s power, Loki will be forced to team up with the Avengers in order to survive the destruction she will bring at her wake. “It’s the kind of destruction that both Thor and Loki have never seen, on a scale of terror they’ve never ever seen before. So, they fall back on their brotherhood fractured though it is to see what they can do to stop her,” Hiddleston told IGN.
“Thor: Ragnarok” will be released on Nov. 3.
