The recent power shut off at Bryce Hall’s Hollywood Hills home after massive parties has opened the TikTok star's eyes to the hardships and challenges faced by people, following which he has decided to donate to a child NGO.
"With my power recently being shut off I now see what having no power can have on someone. I decided to donate a portion of my upcoming merch sales to @nokidhungry. Hoping to do my small part to help those in need in L.A. during these times," Hall tweeted.
Several people took to the comments section to praise Hall for his decision.
"Yes, we are proud of you doing something good in the world. We forgive you for the silly thing you have done but everyone does silly things in their life. But you have learned from it and you're giving back to the ones that need it the most," one of his followers commented.
"Bryce I love you and I’m so thankful you have turned this negative situation into a positive one. You have a kind heart don’t let anybody change that. This is beneficial to many families especially those affected in Los Angeles who lost jobs due to COVID or those who depended on their children to eat school lunches and no longer have that option," another follower wrote.
However, some also called Hall's act a "publicity stunt."
"The point WAS: Having ludicrous parties, bare-faced, with total strangers! You are negligent to the fact there is a (dangerous) virus going around. Don’t make a publicity stunt out of it. You have no business getting to where you are & have no idea how others have had to scrape!" one person tweeted.
Hall, who has 13 million followers on TikTok and 3 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, violated public health orders by hosting several large gatherings at his home. After multiple warnings, Mayor Eric Garcetti authorized the city to shut off power at his home.
"With more than 2,000 Angelenos — and over 170,000 Americans — lost to COVID-19, we need every resident to undertake critical safeguards to stop the spread of this virus. That includes not hosting or attending parties that put themselves, their neighbors, and many others at risk," Garcetti said in a statement Wednesday.
"Despite several warnings, this house has turned into a nightclub in the hills, hosting large gatherings in flagrant violation of our public health orders. The City has now disconnected utilities at this home to stop these parties that endanger our community," the Mayor added.
