Time-travel shows are all the rage now. ABC premiered “Time After Time” Sunday night and it introduced several storylines, a series of interesting characters and left many questions unanswered. The show is based on a novel written by Karl Alexander that was also made in to a movie.

In episodes 1 and 2, a young H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) in 1893 discovered that his friend, Dr. John Stevenson (Josh Bowman), is a serial killer known as Jack the Ripper. In order to escape the Scotland Yard, Stevenson travels to 2017 New York. Wells knows that he is the only one who can catch him and quickly uses his machine to follow his friend.

However, it isn’t easy to outwit Jack the Ripper. Fortunately, Wells gets a lot of help from his friend and love interest, Jane Walker (Genesis Rodriguez), and great-great granddaughter Vanessa Anders (Nicole Ari Parker). Unfortunately, he had to destroy the time machine in order to stop Stevenson from traveling to another time. Now he and Jack the Ripper are stuck in 2017.

Moreover, Stevenson will kill one person everyday if he doesn’t get the key and the time machine.

What will happen next week in “Time After Time”?

In Season 1, episode 3, H.G. and Jane will rush to repair the damaged time machine, according to the official synopsis. Time is running out since Dr. Stevenson is claiming victims every day. However, instead of Jack the Ripper, Stevenson is now known as the Key Killer in modern day New York.

Meanwhile, Vanessa has to decide if she can tell her husband Griffin (Will Chase) the truth about Wells.

The promo of the upcoming episode, titled “Out Of Time,” shows Stevenson pressuring Freddie Stroma’s character in giving him the key and the time machine.

As the season progresses, Wells learns that someone is conducting tests on Stevenson’s DNA and these people are more dangerous than him.

Several questions remained unanswered after watching the series premiere: Who is the mysterious man that followed Wells and Jack the Ripper? Can Griffin be trusted or is he hiding something?

“Time After Time” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
