Timothée Chalamet is undoubtedly one of the shining names of Hollywood today. The way he has achieved so much at such a young age is commendable and he is no mood to stop. Chalament will be portraying the character of an esteemed musician in James Mangold’s upcoming directorial project.
According to Variety, the 24-year-old actor will be playing the role of famous artist Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic helmed by the “Ford v Ferrari” director. The title of the movie has not been confirmed yet, but what’s clear is that the movie will be highly influenced by the book “Dylan Goes Electric” by Elijah Wald.
The book tells the story of how Dylan, a pioneer of country music, went on to change his genre and switch from folk to rock music. The book went on to become a New York Times bestseller.
The “Modern Times” hitmaker is also attached to the project and will produce the movie with Mangold. More importantly, all the music rights have already been obtained by Mangold and Fox Searchlight Studios, which is distributing the film.
After “Walk The Line” and “Ford v Ferrari,” this untitled project is Mangold’s third biopic. The movies were a huge success for the “Logan” helmer and went on to accumulate a lot of nominations in different categories across various award shows.
The movie is going to be the third biopic related to a musician or a band in three years. In 2018, Fox Searchlight’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” was a critical and financial success. The movie based on the life of Queen’s lead vocalist Freddie Mercury won four Academy Awards, including a Best Actor trophy for Rami Malek, who played Mercury in the movie.
Last year, a biopic revolving around the life of Elton John named “Rocketman” was released with Taron Egerton playing the role of the famous musician. On Sunday, Egerton won a Golden Globe for Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) for the movie.
Meanwhile, the “Call Me By Your Name” star is enjoying the success of his latest film “Little Women.” Greta Gerwig’s film adaptation of the classic novel is receiving rave reviews from around the world and is considered to be one of the top contenders for a Best Picture nod at the Oscars.
The film, starring Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, Laura Dern, Emma Watson and Meryl Streep in pivotal roles, currently has a score of 95 percent on review site Rotten Tomatoes and is nominated for nine trophies at the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards.
