Tom Brady Net Worth: Contracts, Endorsements Put QB Among Highest-Paid Players Ever
Tom Brady turned 40 years old Thursday, which should be an indication that his career is coming to an end. Six months removed from winning his fifth Super Bowl, however, the New England Patriots’ quarterback has shown no signs of slowing down, having already made more money playing football than almost anyone in history.
Brady’s earned more than $196 million in NFL contracts since he was selected with the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, putting him behind only Eli Manning for first all time. His salaries and endorsements off the field give Brady a net worth of $180 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, though it’s unknown exactly how accurate that figure actually is.

Brady's endorsements include Under Armour and UGG Boots. Earlier this offseason, Brady announced that he reached a deal with Aston Martin.
As much money as Brady has been paid by the Patriots throughout his career, his earnings don’t reflect nearly how valuable he is to the team. Set to make $14 million for the 2017 season, the quarterback’s contract is one of the biggest bargains in football.
The Oakland Raiders gave Derek Carr a new contract in the offseason that will pay him $25 million for the upcoming season. The deal Andrew Luck got a year ago will pay him almost as much in 2017, while players like Drew Brees and Carson Palmer are also set to earn more than $24 million. Thirteen quarterbacks will make a higher salary than Brady in 2017, via Spotrac, including Matt Ryan, whom Brady defeated in February to win yet another championship.
In 2016, Forbes ranked Brady as the world’s 15th-highest paid athlete with $44 million from his contract with the Patriots and endorsements. He didn’t even make the top 100 on the 2017 list because he had a base salary of just $1 million last season, though he received a $28 million signing bonus with his contract.
Brady signed a contract extension with New England last year, and the deal could keep him in a Patriots uniform through the 2019 season. He’s got a base salary of $14 million in both 2018 and 2019, along with a $1 million roster bonus in each season.
Despite all of his earnings, Brady isn’t even the richest person in his family. His wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, is worth twice as much money, according to some estimates.
In 2014, the couple reportedly sold their estate in Brentwood, California to Dr. Dre for $40 million. About a year after the sale, Brady and Gisele finished building their new 14,000 square foot home in Brookline, Massachusetts for a reported $4.5 million. Last year, it was reported that the couple was buying a New York City apartment in lower Manhattan worth at least $20 million.

After throwing 28 touchdown passes and just two interceptions in 2016, Brady has arguably never played better. He’s been selected to the Pro Bowl in every year since 2009, and the Patriots are favored to win the 2018 Super Bowl.
If Brady continues to play at a high level, he’ll be in the league for a few more seasons, continuing to get paid like a superstar.
