Tom Holland is a British actor who is most famous for playing the role of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” franchise. Despite his growing popularity in recent years, the superhero star only earned a $500,000 base salary in his first Marvel standalone film.
Holland made his debut in the movie industry in the 2012 film “The Impossible” where he starred alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. He continued to appear in major movies as a supporting character, such as in the 2013 film “Locke.” But his rise to stardom was brought by Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016 where he first took on the mantle of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and was reportedly paid $250,000, as per Celebrity Net Worth.
The actor’s first major film, “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” was released in July 2017, and marked his first lead role in the franchise. Despite making a big impact, he only earned a base salary of $500,000 for doing the first installment in the series.
But after the first film in the “Spider-Man” franchise, Holland’s salary skyrocketed. He earned $3 million for his appearance in the 2018 film “Avengers: Infinity War,” according to Looper. Due to his success, the British actor now has a standard base salary of $4 million to $5 million per film appearance.
While Holland’s earnings from the “Spider-Man” movies were not revealed to the public, the first film grossed more than $880 million at the box office. The movie’s success would have most likely paid the actor a hefty paycheck. The second movie in the franchise, “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” made over $1 billion at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing “Spider-Man” film so far, as per Forbes.
Holland’s next film as the web-shooting superhero comes this December in the form of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” The film’s official trailer was recently released and confirmed what many fans have been speculating: the introduction of the multiverse.
The third installment in the franchise is expected to be a global success after Holland’s critically acclaimed performance in the previous films. He will star alongside Zendaya and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. The movile will also bring back past “Spider-Man” movie villains the Green Goblin, Dr. Octavius and Electro, according to Variety.
