Tony Alamo, the leader and founder of Tony Alamo Christian Ministries was on Friday sentenced to 175 years in prison for child sex crimes committed over a period of 10 years.

Alamo, 75, was in July convicted on a 10-count indictment accusing him of taking the girls across state lines for sex.

Alamo preyed on young girls who he took as child brides. He used his status as a father figure and pastor to threaten the girls with the loss of their salvation.

Three of the five women he preyed on took to the stand and testified against him. The one was taken as a child bride at the age of 8.
