Tony Awards 2016 Live Stream: When And Where To Watch Online And On TV
The Great White Way is coming into your living room on Sunday! The 2016 Tony Awards will bring some of Broadway’s biggest stars to the small screen for one night, and there are plenty of ways to tune in.
For those who stick to TV, the Tony Awards air on CBS on Sunday, June 12, at 8 p.m. EDT. The show, hosted by James Corden, will be broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre in New York.
Those who prefer to watch online also have options. CBS All Access allows viewers to live stream the entire ceremony. Users need a log in, but they don’t necessarily have to be cable subscribers. Anyone can sign up for CBS All Access on their website. New users can start a free 7-day trial, but others will need to pay $5.99 per month.
Those who love to see the actors’ fashion choices will want to tune in even earlier. The red carpet will be live streamed at 5:30 p.m. EDT on the Tony Awards website. Celebrities like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jessie Mueller, Leslie Odom Jr., Christopher Fitzgerald, Andrew Lloyd Webber and more are expected to attend. Even those who don’t necessarily pay attention to theater will recognize some of the familiar faces at the Tony Awards. “American Horror Story” star Jessica Lange, “Star Wars” actress Lupita Nyong’o, Steve Martin, “Heroes” star Zachary Levi, “30 Rock” star Jane Krakowski, and singer Sara Bareilles will likely be on the red carpet to celebrate their nominations.
The pre-show will not be available on TV. However, even if you don’t have CBS All Access or a TV, you can still see the Broadway stars. The Tony Awards website will have special programming throughout the night that includes behind-the-scenes access, exclusive interviews and more.
With performances from “The Color Purple,” “Waitress,” “Spring Awakening” to name a few, musical lovers won’t want to miss a moment of the event. Plus, “Hamilton” could make history. The hip-hop musical about Alexander Hamilton has a record-breaking 16 nominations. If it wins 13 statues, it will become the show with the most Tony Awards ever. “The Producers” currently holds the record with 12 wins.
Tune in to the 70th annual Tony Awards on June 12 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS or CBS All Access.
