The murder of Elizabeth Short nicknamed as The Black Dahlia posthumously by the newspapers was an American victim of a terrible murder. Elizabeth Short was a struggling actress whose body was found in a vacant lot, mutilated and sliced in half at the waist, drained of blood and with her face slashed from the corners of the mouth towards the ears.
The lower part of her body was in a spread eagle position. This gruesome scene was first reported by a passerby who alerted the police. Police have hired so many detectives and have questioned thousands of people in connection with the case but have till date not come to any solid proof.
Apparently, the murderer called the editor of the Los Angeles Examiner offering to mail him some of Short’s belongings and the editor did get the mail.
