Tori Spelling Hospitalized, Undergoes Emergency Surgery After Giving Birth
Tori Spelling is in the hospital following emergency surgery after giving birth to son Finn.
"Tori underwent emergency surgery over the weekend due to complications from her C-section," a rep for Spelling told People magazine. "She remains in the hospital and is resting comfortably."
The “Craft Wars” host, 39, gave birth to Finn on Aug. 30. She tweeted a photo of her newborn son clutching her hand with the caption, “It’s a Boy!!”
“We are so excited to announce the birth of the newest member of the McDermott family,” Spelling posted on her website.
News that Spelling was in the hospital caused concern among her fans. Her husband, Dean McDermott, said the couple had tried to keep the hospital stay on the down-low.
“I didn't want to alert the world. No TMZ knows. Was trying to keep it private,” McDermott tweeted to a Twitter follower Tuesday.
TMZ, however, did know about Spelling’s hospitalization. The gossip website reported on her hospitalization about three hours before McDermott’s tweet.
“Sources close to Tori tell us, the actress was rushed to the hospital on Saturday,” TMZ reported. “Details surrounding the complication are unclear, but we're told it stems from the C-section procedure she underwent on August 30th while giving birth to her son Finn.”
The Cesarean section for Finn was Spelling’s second within 12 months. The actress had the procedure to deliver daughter Hattie in October 2011, according to USA Today.
Spelling and McDermott have two other children, Stella, 4, and Liam, 5, the news outlet reported. McDermott also has a son, Jack, 13, from a previous marriage.
The actress and former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star was also in the hospital after giving birth to Hattie. The hospitalization was due to migraines, according to the New York Daily News.
