Transfer News: Chelsea Opts To Clean House By Loaning Out Players To Flamengo, Alaves
KEY POINTS
- Chelsea continues to sell surplus players to cover its spending this summer
- The Blues are reportedly in talks with other clubs
- Chelsea may consider adding new midfielders to its roster
Chelsea knows it has to trim down its roster--not to mention try to recover from the lavish spending the Blues made this transfer window.
Some players are being loaned out, and the latest ones could be Robert Kenedy Nunes Nascimento and Matt Miazga.
According to reports, the Blues are reportedly preparing to send the two players out to cut down its overcrowded lineup.
Chelsea is allegedly in talks with Clube de Regatas do Flamengo although nothing has come close to being sealed.
However, Urubu is confident that the Blues will accept their loan offer that also includes £8.5 million ($11.78 million) to buy.
As for Miazga, a move to Deportivo Alavés, S.A.D. is still under negotiation. The 26-year-old center-back has one year left in his contract with the Blues, and Chelsea is likely to ask to extend the deal by a year before allowing him to leave on loan.
Should the two deals be finalized, Chelsea is hoping to recover some of the funds they spent this transfer window. The Blues added Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Bettinelli.
Chelsea spent £98 million ($136 million) to get Lukaku to the fold. To somehow from that splurge, the Blues are now hoping to raise money through player sales.
So far, they have sold Tammy Abraham to Roma for £34 million ($47 million).
The 23-year-old has already traveled to Roma to undergo medical.
However, Chelsea has the option to buy him back in 2023 for £68 million ($94 million).
Aside from Abraham, other players the Blues have sold include Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi for more than £40 million ($55 million).
Another player who could be moving soon is Michy Batshuayi to Beşiktaş Jimnastik Kulübü.
More players are expected to be moved with names such as Ross Barkley, Davide Zappacosta and Danny Drinkwater mentioned.
With Thomas Tuchel trying to trim down the Blues roster this season, it remains unknown if Chelsea would be adding new faces.
However, the German boss is cautious of it as he stays cautious of potentially disrupting the harmony within the team.
The Blues have space in the midfield, but all that may depend if Ruben Loftus-Cheek can convince Tuchel that there is no need to do so.
