Transfer Rumors: Aston Villa Expected To Try To Snag Seagulls Midfielder
KEY POINTS
- Aston Villa is expected to make a move for Yves Bissouma this summer
- Bissouma knows that he is not short on options
- He seems to be bent on leaving his current club to join a new team next season
Aston Villa is expected to have a busy summer, and one position that the Villans are expected to address is their midfielder needs.
With the future of Douglas Luiz uncertain, manager Steven Gerrard is reportedly preparing and has two names in mind, The Telegraph reported. They are Yves Bissouma and Kalvin Phillips, two names that could move to Villa Park in the summer.
Of the two, the Villans will have to shell out at least £50 million ($66.2 million) to get the midfielder to their side.
But given that Bissouma is entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Seagulls, the money needed to lure the Ivory Coast midfielder is likely to be higher.
Moreover, it should be noted that there are other clubs that have an interest in Bissouma.
Newcastle United tried to make a move for the 25-year-old footballer in January, but nothing prospered.
Hence, the Magpies are likely to try once more but may have to pay a higher price this summer.
Bissouma has been doing well for Brighton & Hove Albion under the watch of Graham Potter.
But as far as thriving is concerned, there is the growing belief that he is more likely to be targeted by several big clubs.
Aside from Newcastle United, other teams who have been keeping tabs with Bissouma include Liverpool and Arsenal.
The Mali player has proven to be a worthy midfielder in the Premier League, and he has proven himself as a more than capable defender.
Given those qualities, the only way that Bissouma could leave the Falmer Stadium is if Aston Villa is willing to spend.
Getting him on a $66.2 million price tag would be a bargain. But given that there are also other teams in the mix, Bissouma is likely to be worth more than that.
As mentioned in a previous post, Bissouma is not short on options. He has already informed the Seagulls of wanting to leave the Falmer Stadium although this could not be independently verified by IBTimes.
