KEY POINTS

  • Michy Batshuayi may be relegated to the shopping block by Chelsea
  • The Belgian could end up with Crystal Palace permanently
  • Batshuayi has struggled to get a regular spot at Chelsea under different coaches

Michy Batshuayi is set to return to Chelsea following a loan spell at Crystal Palace.

However, pundits don’t see him staying that long with the Blues as the club will likely listen to offers and divert collected earnings somewhere else.

Since arriving in 2016, Batshuayi has found it difficult to land a spot on the Blues regular team.

Aside from Crystal Palace, the 27-year-old striker also had stints at Borussia Dortmund in 2018 and Valencia during the 2018-19 season.

At the rate he is going, the Belgian is unlikely to get a spot in the rotation of Thomas Tuchel.

Batshuayi still has a year left in his current deal with the Blues after signing an extension last summer.

But seeing how he has failed to get regular minutes under the watch of different managers such as Antonio Conte and Frank Lampard, the consensus is that Chelsea will sit down with clubs who may be interested in taking him in.

One of those teams could be Crystal Palace.

The Belgian striker managed to score only two goals in 19 appearances with the Eagles.

Regardless, he continues to be a regular under Rogelio Martinez’s Belgium squad and will be part of this summer’s European Championship.

After that, he is expected to return to Cobham, but reports claim that this will be short-lived.

The Blues are hoping to procure roughly £10 million ($14.15 million) for Batshuayi.

A good showing could raise the number of teams who would be interested in taking him in.

Batshuayi is one of many players speculated to leave Stamford Bridge. Other names expected to be exiting include Olivier Giroud, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Emerson Palmieri, Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater, Baba Rahman, Kenedy and Victor Moses.

From that list, Tomori and Giroud are two names to watch out for.

As previously reported, AC Milan has its eyes on Tomori. Curiously, I Rossoneri is also looking into the availability of another player in teen sensation Tino Livramento.

The 18-year-old is more of insurance in the event AC Milan fails in its bid for Tomori.

Giroud is also another player on AC Milan’s radar, someone they could get via free transfer.

If they play their cards right, I Rossoneri could end up with the two players this summer transfer window.
