  • Manchester United exploring alternative options for Jadon Sancho
  • Red Devils won't heed Borussia Dortmund requirements
  • United could focus on Bailey or even Havertz

Manchester United remains linked to Jadon Sancho but will only spend reasonably. With Borussia Dortmund seeking a hefty $142 million for the English winger, the Red Devils are ready to pass up on Sancho and look at other options.

According to sources by Goal, United is unwilling to pay a fee near the vicinity of what BVB is asking. A big reason for this is the financial impact brought in by the COVID-19 pandemic. They have no plans of breaking their wage structure for the 20-year-old player following the unsuccessful transfer of Alexis Sanchez, Sky Sports reported.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed in a press conference that they will not be rushing transfers this coming summer. It appears the Red Devils are wisely expanding their options and looking for players that are priced reasonably and within their budget.

“This transfer window is a long one, every transfer takes its course. It is what it is,” Solskjaer said.

Dortmund has put on the pressure for United and other teams interested in Sancho. They have set Aug. 10 as the deadline for any deals involving the 20-year-old. A reason tied to this is that BVB wants to focus and prepare for next season. The Red Devils have no plans of heeding that call and plan to move ahead if Dortmund is no longer interested in discussing a deal for Sancho.

United has other players in mind such as Kingsley Coman. If the Sancho pursuit fizzles, the Red Devils are likely to focus on the 24-year-old French national.

Last month, it was reported that another target for the Red Devils is Leon Bailey. Bailey was linked to a possible move to Old Trafford some years back although nothing came to fruition. Injuries got in the way and prevented the deal from falling through.

If not Bailey, another player that United could try to pursue is Kai Havertz. However, the 21-year-old has been heavily linked to a move to Chelsea, meaning the chances of the Red Devils are not that high. Also, Bailey would be a cheaper player to get. The asking fee for the Jamaican is roughly around $50 million.
