KEY POINTS

  • Manchester United is reported to be in touch with Aston Villa's Jack Grealish
  • Interest in Grealish has grown, owing to a stellar start in the 2020-21 campaign
  • Aston Villa is unlikely to entertain offers at the moment

Manchester United will need to reach deep into its pockets if the club wants to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa this summer.

The Englishman has starred for the Villans this season and has again been linked to a move to Old Trafford.

But the fact that he inked a new long-term deal with Aston Villa this past September has raised his stock in recent months. In addition, he has tallied five goals and nine assists in 15 appearances this season.

The Athletic has reported that the Red Devils will need to fork out at least £90 million ($122 million) if they want to pry Grealish away from Aston Villa in the next transfer window.

It comes as a surprise as Manchester United already has an attacking midfielder in Donny van de Beek, who arrived from Ajax, prior to deadline day last October.

Prior to locking Van de Beek, the Red Devils had broached the idea of bringing Grealish to Manchester but pulled the plug on his then-£70 million ($95.2 million) price tag.

With Manchester United facing the probability of losing Paul Pogba in the summer, Grealish remains Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s top pick to fill the midfield void as the head coach seeks to bring in a top-quality replacement.

Meanwhile, Grealish has not only caught the attention of Manchester United with his impressive outings as part of Aston Villa. Manchester City is reportedly keeping a close eye on him.

According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa is unlikely to entertain offers for Grealish this January as the club is adamant to sustain its impressive start in the New Year.
