  • Lingard wants to try luck under Manchester United's new coach

Newcastle United will reportedly be scratching out one high-profile target for this coming January.

Jesse Lingard is a name that could be on the move in the January transfer window. Should that happen, the Magpies won't be the benefitting club.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Lingard plans to fight for his place at the club instead of leaving outright

In addition, the 29-year-old winger is inspired by the fact that Ralf Rangnick has taken over the club and that the German tactician’s playing style perfectly suits him.

Aside from the Magpies, West Ham United has been mentioned as another team that could try and acquire Lingard in the January transfer window.

But knowing that he is in control of his future, Lingard is reportedly passing up on a move next month and saving it for the summer to seek a new challenge according to the Express.

Manchester United tried to negotiate a new pact with Lingard, but both sides have failed to agree.

The English player appears to be looking for a long-term contract that the Red Devils may not be ready to give.
