Transfer Rumors: Arsenal Boss Targets Two Strikers That Could Add Firepower
KEY POINTS
- Arsenal is compiling a list of targets as they prepare for the exodus of their resident strikers
- Cabral and David are non-marquee names that could place Mikel Arteta in the hot seat
- David's asking price may be too much if compared to his current deal with Lille
Arsenal is fully aware that they need to brace for the potential exit of their trusted forwards.
With the January transfer window just around the corner, the Gunners have a couple of players in mind.
According to Jeunes Footeux, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is interested in possibly dealing for Arthur Cabral and Jonathan David.
Before the Cabral and David entered the picture, the Gunners have also been linked to Dusan Vlahovic and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Placing due consideration on the leagues where there are playing now, it appears the latest targets of the Gunners could make more sense.
For Cabral, he has so far scored 14 goals in 17 matches for Basel. In total, he has 27 goals across his name in 30 games.
David, on the other hand, has slightly impressive numbers with Lille. He has scored only once in 11 games although he has found the back of the net in his last three UEFA Champions League games.
As far as the Canadian forward is concerned, it would be best to note that Liverpool also has him under consideration, TBR noted.
Regardless of his performance pales in comparison to Cabral, Lille wants £42.5 million ($57 million) for David.
Although both Cabral and David have been holding up well this season, their fit in Arsenal is not a guarantee.
The fact remains that Arsenal fans are looking for an established name to join the mix that could place Cabral in scrutiny.
David has hardly been having a good run this season, something that could also spur backlash if he fails to shine at the Emirates Stadium.
The best to get out of these four names is that Arsenal is preparing for an exodus of big names.
The contracts of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah will expire after this season and both appear to be set to suit up for different teams next season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also appears imminently heading out after being grounded in the Gunners' recent games.
Further compounding the situation is the fact that the Gabonese was stripped of the captaincy, a move that further spurs belief that his days in a Gunners uniform are coming to a close.
